The conference will consider the theme of social inclusion for culturally and linguistically diverse communities within regional Victoria. Initiatives, projects, ideas and research that promote social inclusion will be explored. The conference will be relevant to a range of stakeholders including those from the community sector, private sector and all levels of government.

ECCV 2007 Conference

Regional Settlement for Migrants and Refugees

The ECCV 2007 Conference ‘Regional Settlement for Migrants and Refugees’ was held in Bendigo on Saturday May 5. The conference created opportunities for regional ethnic communities’ councils, migrant resource centers, service providers, community groups, government and individuals to exchange ideas and strategies in relation to regional settlement for migrants and refugees. The impressive line up of guest speakers included:

Daniel Andrews MP – Minister Assisting the Premier on Multicultural Affairs;

Professor Desmond Cahill – Professor of Intercultural Studies, RMIT University;

Christopher Callanan – Acting State Director, Department of Immigration and Citizenship;

Dr. Sharman Stone – Federal Member for Murray, Minister for Worforce Participation;

Dr. Sundram Sivamalai – Senior Lecturer, University of Melbourne
