The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) will provide the government with independent and responsive advice to build upon our achievements. It will also promote the participation of Victorians regardless of their ethnicity, culture and religious background in building a successful future for us all.
Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia (FECCA)
FECCAis the Australian national peak body that promotes multiculturalism, community harmony and social justice. FECCA is involved in community education, advocacy for equitable access to services and information for Australians from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, human and cultural rights. FECCA rejects racism and discrimination on any grounds and we work in strategic partnerships with other organisations to build an inclusive, diverse, accepting and prosperous 21st century Australian society.
The aims and objectives of the foundation are to cultivate in all Australians a strong commitment to Australia as one people drawn from many cultures and by so doing to advance its social and economic well being; the promotion of an awareness among the people of Australia of the diversity of cultures within Australia and the contribution of people from all cultures to the development of Australia; and the spread of respect and understanding between all cultural groups through any appropriate means.
The Centre for Multicultural Youth Issues is a community based organisation that advocates for the needs of young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.In supporting young people, CMYI combines policy development and direct service delivery within a community development framework.This approach gives CMYI strong connections with young people and their communities while enabling positive change on a local state and national level.
The Centre for Culture Ethnicity and Health (CEH) is a statewide organisation funded by DHS to build the capacity of Victorian health service providers to effectively meet the needs of clients and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is the only organisation of its kind in the state. Essentially MAV provides opportunities and support structures to artists and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as offering culturally diverse art to the public at large.
Multicultural Arts Victoria was established in 1983 and evolved from the Festival of All Nations. Since that time, it has worked consistently to support artists and communities in Victoria and has a strong history of quality program delivery and of encouraging innovation and creative cultural expression in the arts.
