RMIF – Regional Migration Incentive Fund

ECCV was pleased to partner with the Victorian State Government and regional communities across Victoria to encourage regional skilled migration throughout the state. The Skilled Migration Program was funded by the Regional Migration Incentive Fund and ECCV was involved from 2004-2007.

ECCV’s involvement in the program focused on:

  • preparing employers, industries, local government, service providers, and the community to receive and settle new migrants from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
  • providing advice on how regional community services can be responsive to the needs of recently arrived migrants, including the preparation of resources and information.
  • assisting migrants to understand local culture and practices and supporting and resourcing regional Ethnic Communities Councils as project partners.

Key publications produced by ECCV as part of the skilled migration program included the following:

ECCV Welcoming Communities Guide

This publication aims to provide information and resources for the effective settlement of new migrants in regional Victoria. Drawing on regional welcoming strategies for new arrivals, the guide contains practical examples of welcoming initiatives as well as recommendations for best practice welcoming strategies and links to other useful bodies and grants.
